I guess the first question is – who is this camera actually designed for? The 7D fits into the high-end category in terms of price. This means obviously if you are a professional or enthusiast then you aren’t going to miss out on any features or technologies available in the market and you will be getting everything to be had in a camera.

However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that an enthusiast or a fresher in the world of DSLR can’t use it. That’s far from the truth. The camera infuses complexity with user-ergonomics brilliantly. Having said that, if you are going to use it as a “point and shoot” type of camera then you are probably wasting your money and should be looking at something like the Canon G11 instead.

The other main factor in the decision is the known faults. I searched around a lot of internet forums to gather information on what the existing users are saying. To be honest there is not much to report on except a few complaints surfaced regarding ghosting (residual preceding images captured in subsequent images) under certain shooting conditions.
